Elementary Summer Reading List An Achievable Dream Academy Summer Intersession: An Achievable Dream Academy holds a mandatory summer intersession each year for all students in grades 3-5. This summer intersession provides the opportunity for our students to get a "jump-start" on their academic success for the upcoming school year and experience a vast array of enrichment experiences. The summer program for students in grades 3-5 is run by An Achievable Dream, Inc., and will be held Monday through Thursday July 9 to August 2, 2012. Contact Lee Vreeland at 283-7820. 21st Century Summer Program: A continuation of the 21st Century grant serving 300 students from Sedgefield, Hidenwood, and Newsome Park elementary schools. The 21st Century program will run Monday through Thursday for five weeks from 8:30-3:00. Breakfast and lunch will be served each day. The instructional focus will be Reading, Math, and Technology Enrichment. Site:Newsome Park Elementary. Student dates and times: July 2 - Aug 2, Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Contact Corey L. Gordon at 848-8936. English as a Second Language: The English as a Second Language Program will offer ESL summer school to intensive ESL students that are new to our country. There will be a classroom at each of our elementary summer school sites, BC Charles Elementary and Newsome Park Elementary, for students currently in grades K-4. The ESL program's curriculum for the summer session will focus on language acquisition in the four domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Applications for ESL summer school will be distributed by ESL teachers and students will be registered by the ESL Welcome Center. Call 591-4680 for additional information. Reading & Math Support Program: A program of remediation support in reading and mathematics will be provided for regular education and collaborative special education students, K-4. Middle School Summer Reading List An Achievable Dream Middle & High School Summer Intersession: An Achievable Dream Middle and High School holds a mandatory summer intersession each year for all students in grades 6-12. This summer intersession provides the opportunity for our students to get a "jump-start" on their academic success for the upcoming school year and experience a vast array of enrichment experiences. In addition, as we prepare students for the 21st century, college and business world, this schedule also allows An Achievable Dream to provide job shadowing and internship opportunities for all high school students. The summer program for students in grades 6-12 is run by An Achievable Dream, Inc. and will be held July 9, 2012 to August 2, 2012. Student must apply and audition for admittance into the program (for rising 8th -12th grade students). Contact 591-4561. Site: Woodside. Middle School Program: A Math “jump start” program will be offered for rising 6th - 8th grade students. The program will run Monday through Thursday from July 30, 2012 to August 9, 2012. The curriculum for the Math program will focus on specific skills that have been identified as foundational requirements for each grade level. Applications for the Math program will be distributed to identified students.
