NNS Huntington Middle School Partnership
What is a Middle School Partnership?
The partnership between a school and a business provides a unique opportunity for the business to contribute directly to the school experience of the youth who are just beginning to formulate their dreams for the future. A partnership can take many forms and will be flexible to accommodate a wide range of activity by the business. As a Business Partner, NNSB partners with Huntington Middle School for year-round presence and participation in community events hosted by the school. There are three types of activities included in a Career Pathways Partnership.
-
The first is the publicity and communication of the partnership through sponsorship of events, signage, and visual messages in the school that communicate the career opportunities offered by business.
-
The second is the support of the partner with the other Business Opportunities as mutually determined (i.e. tours, speakers, interns, job shadowing, and clubs).
-
The last component of a Middle School Partnership involves the support of the faculty with the indoctrination of the students on Career Readiness Skills. In our approach, this is accomplished by teams of apprentices from The Apprentice School conducting workshops during the school year.

The Apprentice School Career Readiness Team
Apprentice students make up a cadre of speakers who share the importance of Career Readiness Skills in the classroom.
Each semester, each Middle School student will have exposure to one or more of the Career Readiness Skills so they are prepared before they participate in career choices in High School.
