What does it mean to be an intern at Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News?
Overall, this internship influenced my decision to become an Electrical Engineer.
– Jaymes Berry, Senior, Heritage HS
I will share with students that the shipyard is not just about building ships and there are many other jobs here at NNSB to explore. I will also talk to my students about the Apprentice School and have students explore this as an opportunity and/or an option after high school.
– Shannon Washington, School Counselor
Newport News Shipbuilding provides internship opportunities to students and teachers that will transfer classroom knowledge to real life work experiences at NNSB.
The student internship will develop career readiness skills while working in a challenging and enjoyable work environment. NNSB will ensure this is accomplished by using experienced professionals that will act as a mentor, transfer knowledge, and help develop the next generation of Shipbuilders.
The teacher internship will transform teaching and learning by connecting real-life applications and advancements in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. The valuable knowledge that they will receive can be directly incorporated into the lesson plan and classroom.
