NNPS Community Relations team honored by NSPRA
(July 11, 2012) - Newport News Public Schools has won a half-dozen awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) in its annual Publications and Electronic Media Awards contest.
The district website (www.nnschools.org) won the top prize, an Award of Excellence, for an internet or intranet presence. Only two school districts in North America received the honor. This is the second time the NNPS website has been given the top award. The Web Team consists of Webmaster Laura Jennings, Web Applications Developer Matt Thomas and Web Content Developer Christeen Myers.
NNPS-TV Station Manager Jim Anklam received an Award of Merit for the television program "This Just In" and an Honorable Mention Award for "News in a Minute." Nik Long, Aaron Moore, and Beth Scott also contributed to the television entries.
NNPS also received an Honorable Mention Award in branding/image package for the 30-year middle school celebration (Charlotte Colbert) and Honorable Mention Awards for excellence in writing (Marguerite Hargreaves) and social media (Jennings and Hargreaves).
