ECC and elementary early dismissal on Wednesdays to start Sept. 12
(September 7, 2012) - Early childhood and elementary schools in Newport News Public Schools will begin early Wednesday dismissal on September 12. The abbreviated Wednesday schedule is designed to provide a block of time for teachers to use for individual and collaborative planning and staff development.
Students are dismissed two-and-a-half hours early on Wednesdays beginning the second week of school through the next-to-last week of classes. See the NNPS schedule of operating hours for dismissal times for individual schools: http://nnschools.org/ophours.pdf
Parents should make alternate child-care arrangements to accommodate the early Wednesday dismissal. Students cannot remain at school unless they are enrolled in the Newport News Parks & Recreation after-school program, which operates independently of the school district.
