Woodside student earns international award

Akea Cader, a senior at Woodside High School, earned third place in the Principles of Hospitality and Tourism event at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, in April.

Cader advanced to the international conference after earning fifth place in the Virginia DECA Competition. More than 16,000 DECA members from across the country demonstrated their college and career knowledge and skills by participating in the international competition.

DECA is an international association of high school and college students that prepares leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas.
