(02/17/2017) - Over 200 student scientists, engineers and IT specialists presented their studies and findings at Newport News Public Schools 36th Annual Science, Engineering and Technology Fair on Saturday, January 28, at Heritage High School.

Participants representing each middle and high school exhibited projects in 15 categories including animal science; behavioral and social science; biochemistry; cellular and molecular biology; microbiology; chemistry; computer science and mathematics; earth and planetary science; electrical and mechanical engineering; bioengineering; environmental management; environmental science; medicine and health; physics and astronomy; and plant sciences.

Investigations were judged on creativity, scientific thought or engineering goals, thoroughness, skill and clarity. Judges selected first, second, third and honorable mention projects in each category. First and second place winners advance to the Tidewater Science and Engineering Fair held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Old Dominion University.
