Teacher in Residence Program
Posted: April 17, 2018
Newport News Public Schools, in collaboration with Old Dominion University, will be offering a Teacher In Residence Program for four (4) exceptional recruits for the 2018-19 school year.
The Teacher in Residence (TIR) program is a fast-track into teaching for those who are highly motivated and committed to the teaching profession. TIRs earn both a master's degree and initial teaching licensure for special education. Professional development and on-going support inside and outside of the classroom is provided by clinical resident coaches (veteran teachers) and ODU faculty for the preparation year and the three years of service in the classroom.
We are currently recruiting persons interested in becoming special education teachers in Newport News Public Schools for the 2018-2019 school year. If interested, please attend an informational session on Thursday, April 19 from 4:30-5:30 PM in the Warwick Room of the Main Administration Building, 12465 Warwick Blvd. The application deadline is May 11, 2018. Go to http://www.odu.edu/education/academics/teacher-in-residency/application-process to apply.
