Dress Code: Crittenden Middle School

The school’s dress code is established to teach hygiene, instill discipline, prevent disruption, and avoid safety hazards.  Final determination of acceptable dress and grooming rests with the building administration.  Students not adhering to the school dress code policy will be referred to the counselors. Parents will be contacted.  Students will not be allowed to attend school/classes until proper uniform attire is attained.

Bottoms

  • Colors- SOLID navy, khaki/tan, (no denim material)
  • Styles-TRADITIONAL STYLE pants, shorts, skirts, or jumpers as well as capris, peddle pushers, or cargo pants.
  • Skirts, shorts, and jumpers must meet the fingertip test for length.
  • Jumpers must be worn with tops.
  • NO leggings are worn under skirts, jumpers or shorts.
  • Pants MUST have belt loops.  Belts must be worn in the belt loops.  Only one belt can be worn.  No excessively large belt buckles that light up, glitter, etc. can be worn. 
  • The following are NOT allowed: Denims/jeans of any type or color, skinny pants, oversized pants-pants must be worn above the hips, sweat pants, jumpsuits, overalls, decorative ornaments (stitching, beads, chains, etc.), skin tight, clothing or Lycra.

Tops

  • SOLID colors, Blue, red, purple, and white. Yellow and green have been added for additional color choices.
  • Traditional Styles ONLY:

                        °  Oxford-long or short sleeve
                        °  Polo-long or short sleeve
                        °  Turtle Necks-long or short sleeve

  • All shirts must have collars and sleeves.
  • All shirts must have snaps or buttons.
  • Shirts must be worn so that no cleavage or undergarments are shown.
  • Shirts with writing or logos are not permissible with the exception of CMS polo shirts which have the Cougar logo and can be purchased through the school.
  • Shirts must be long enough so that they can be worn tucked inside. 
  • No tee shirts, flannel shirts, oversized sweaters, or fleece shirts.
  • Sweaters:  any color crew neck, v-neck, cardigan, or vest.
  • Hooded sweatshirts can be worn in SOLID navy blue or black (no logos).

Other

  • Hair must be well groomed.  Bandannas, hats, caps, sweatbands, or related headdress will not be allowed in the building.  Bandanas will be confiscated.
  • Shoes must have backs and heels should be no more than 2” high.
  • Good taste and moderation should govern makeup.
  • All grooming should be done in the restrooms.
  • No writing, symbols, graphics, or graffiti can be written or seen on shoes, books, backpacks, etc.
  • Only one pair of matching socks can be worn at a time.
  • ALL other NNPS division dress code policies must be followed.
