ALL SCHOOLS TO REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH END OF SCHOOL YEAR

Posted: March 23, 2020

This afternoon, the Governor extended the statewide K-12 school closures for the remainder of the school year. We know this news causes some concern. Please rest assured that Newport News Public Schools will continue to support students and families during this closure.

The Virginia Department of Education will provide school divisions with guidance on continued teaching and learning, graduation requirements for the class of 2020, and the issuing of standard and verified credits.

While our schools are closed for the remainder of this school year, students and families should continue to utilize the At-Home Learning resources. Additional resources will be posted in the coming days and NNPS will continue to share this information with students and families in a timely manner.

NNPS will continue to provide meals-to-go for anyone 18 years of age or younger at our designated sites.

We thank you for your understanding, support and patience as we work together to do what is best for our students. We will keep you updated through phone calls, emails, www.nnschools.org/coronavirus, and social media as more information becomes available.
