Work of NNPS Educators Featured in Knowledge Quest
Librarians embrace inquiry-based learning

(01/05/2015) -The November/December 2014 issue of Knowledge Quest, Journal of the American Association of School Librarians, features a guest editor column written by Mary Keeling, NNPS Supervisor of Library Services, and an article written by three NNPS librarians: Sandy Graham at Menchville High School, Patty Lambusta at Passage Middle School and retired Kiln Creek Elementary Librarian Barbara Letteri-Walker.

Keeling's column introduces how the inquiry-based process differs from information literacy and how school librarians are changing their professional practice to incorporate this model in their own school library programs. Keeling, whose articles on mission statements and powerful professional development programs have been published in Knowledge Quest and the Library Media Connection, is a member of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) and serves on the association's Interdivisional Committee on Information Literacy and as chair of the Supervisors Section.

"Rocks in the River," written by Graham, Lambusta and Letteri-Walker, summarizes how the authors revised the school division's inquiry process model which resulted in improvements in student learning.
