Please DO NOT call the number at the top of this screen.  If you need a password (either new or if you have forgotten your password), you must bring identification to the school.  Passwords will not be given out over the phone or by email.

New for 2009-2010

• Current Progress screen: Parents can view:
  • Total cumulative class average
  • Current class average
• Change Password screen:
  • Type current password in the "Null" field
  • Type new password
  • Retype new password
• Emergency Contact screen:
  • Parents listed as Emergency Contacts can no longer make changes to their contact information in the following fields:
    • Home Phone
    • Home Address
  • This information change can only be requested from the Demographic screen.
• Diploma screen:
  • Parents can now view diploma requirements by Subject Categories.
• Messages:
  • All messages (read and unread) remain in Parent Assistant until deleted.

Parent Assistant is available to all middle and high school parents
Parent Assistant is available now to all Middle & High schools. Parents have access to all of their students in Newport News Public Schools via one username and password.  If you cannot see one or more of your children, contact the Parent Assistant Coordinator at your child’s middle or high school. 

Note:  The elementary schools do not have Parent Assistant Coordinators and are not supported in Parent Assistant at this time.  Middle & high schools should contact their Parent Assistant Coordinators with questions.

Passwords
Parent Assistant passwords are case sensitive. If you receive a system generated password, the first two letters are uppercase. It is suggested that you change your password as soon as you log in the first time.

New Horizons Courses
If you have a student that takes courses at New Horizons please be aware that you will not see assignment grades for these students. The teachers at New Horizons do not use the same student system as Newport News to track student progress.
