The Newport News Public Schools division recognizes that the Internet and web-based services are powerful tools for advancing teaching, learning, and research in today's networked, global society. The underlying interactive technology of the Web can promote greater student participation in learning and open up new possibilities for teaching, scholarly, administrative and business communications.

The Web Services team is responsible for the district-wide implementation, maintenance, administration and support of all school division web sites. The team is also responsible for the management, scalability, ease-of-use, and integrity of the web environment. We design, develop and manage the school division’s Intranet and Internet web sites to effectively present the school division’s message to parents, students and our community. This includes support for instructional use of web services, all intranet services, as well as web front-end systems associated with many administrative computing systems.

Our team works closely with all departments and provides guidance, training, and assistance to school-based personnel who assist in maintaining school-specific web sites. Our team establishes and enforces the standards for web site appearance, structure and content aging.

Web Services reports to Michelle Price, Director of Public Information and Community Involvement.
