In every culture, the Fine Arts teach us much about every historical period through its literature, visual arts, music, dance, and drama.
We recognize that to be truly well educated one must not only learn to appreciate the arts, but must have rich opportunities to actively participate in creative work.
Best Community for Music Education
Newport News Public Schools has been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. The designation recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who work together to ensure access to music learning for all students as part of the school curriculum.
Visual Arts
The visual arts provide unique insights into the nature and history of mankind. Through the arts we are able to see both the individual and universal characteristics of human beings.
Performing Arts
Music and theatre education isn't reserved for a few talented pupils, but is made available to our entire student body. Everyone can benefit from the study of the performing arts!
Summer Institute for the Arts
The Summer Institute for the Arts offers an intensive six-week program in dance, theatre arts, music, and visual arts each summer.
