Dress Code: Woodside High School

The school division acknowledges that a correlation exists between good grooming and personal attire and student achievement. A similar relationship exists between student dress and acceptable standards of conduct. Recognizing these relationships, the following dress practices ARE NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOL:

  1. Headwear or head coverings of any kind (male or female): Hats, hoods, sweatbands, bandannas, scarves, sunglasses, combs, picks, curlers, rakes worn in the hair or any head coverings.
  2. Any article of apparel, which displays obscene words, pictures or designs. Any article that conveys a sexually suggestive message or a pro-alcohol, drug, or gang related message.
  3. Clothing that is transparent or exposes the midriff, back, navel, or cleavage.
  4. Tank tops, tube tops, halter tops, one shoulder tops, spaghetti straps, strapless or backless tops.  Straps should be at least 3 finger widths.
  5. Dresses, skirts, or shorts that do not reach at least mid-thigh or have slits above mid-thigh. No garment should be worn too tight and or higher than mid-thigh.
  6. Stretch lycra, spandex, tights, leotards, biker pants, or underwear worn as outer garments.
  7. Pants, skirts or shorts worn below intended waistline or inside out.  No pajamas/ sleepwear of any kind.  Cut-up shorts or pants with slits, rips or holes above mid-thigh.
  8. Bare feet or slippers. Footwear must be worn at all times.
  9. Jewelry or accessories that may be used as a weapon (e.g. two or three finger rings that are joined, chains, oversized necklaces).
  10. Any item that may be considered disruptive to the educational process.

Students in violation of this policy will be referred to the office and parents will be called to bring the proper school attire. If parents cannot be reached, students will be placed in an alternative setting. Time missed from classes will be unexcused. Students shall not attend classes inappropriately dressed. Repeated offenders (more than twice) of the dress code will be subject to disciplinary action.
