Community members play golf to support Newport News Education Foundation

Members of the local community enjoyed a round of golf, meals together and camaraderie as they came out to support Newport News Public Schools students at the 2024 Newport News Education Foundation Golf Classic at Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort on June 13.

Generous financial support of the golf tournament will be used to fund the important work of the foundation, which among other initiatives provides mini-grants to teachers, awards the Wayne D. Lett Scholarship, and fosters relationships between local business partners and the school division.

Awnings by Bigley & Hogshire and Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding provided valuable contributions by serving as Bronze level sponsors for the tournament.

The foursome of Michael Leech, Ed Peterson, Jimmy Fay and Jeff Howe placed first and Danny Hicks, Randy Hicks, Rodney Dennis and John Waterman finished second.
