Dr. Christine Mann Darden STEM Scholarship Awarded

In a July ceremony, Dr. Christine Mann Darden, one of NASA's "human computers" and a "hidden figure," presented a $500 STEM scholarship to Morgan Danielle Moore. Miss Moore is a senior at Heritage High School.

The scholarship was created in Dr. Darden's name in a partnership between BLOOM, a Newport News Public Schools leadership initiative that prepares female students to be global leaders, and by the Newport News chapter of The Links, Inc., a professional women's group and sponsor of the local junior chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.
