Karen Digiorgio, library media specialist at B.C. Charles Elementary School, recently earned certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Mrs. Digorgio completed the rigorous process to become recertified in Library Media, pre-K through 12.

National Board certification is a symbol of excellence in teaching and professional growth and the highest credential in the teaching profession. The Certification process usually takes between one and three years. Candidates successfully complete the assessment process by preparing a career portfolio of good teaching practices, examples of student work, and multimedia teaching samples. A reflective written component addresses teaching goals, methods, and results. Candidates also must pass an extensive series of rigorous written exercises.
