Discovery STEM Academy New Student Hours

Throughout the summer, Newport News Public Schools' leadership team has been preparing for the 2023-2024 school year to ensure student success.
After careful consideration, the School Leadership and Transportation Departments have adjusted the school hours for Discovery STEM Academy students for the 2023-2024 school year. Discovery STEM will now operate on the "C Schedule." Student hours will be 9:20 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.
Discovery STEM Academy:
- Student Hours: 9:20 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.
- Student Half-Day Dismissal: 12:30 p.m.
- Student Early Dismissal: 2:25 p.m.
- Office Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The new student hours will better support the transportation of students from across the city.
