Childcare Bus Transportation Requests
Posted: February 10, 2021
Over the past several months, Newport News Public Schools has been preparing for a safe return to in-person instruction.
The NNPS timeline identifies dates for bringing students back to school in two phases, beginning with student populations who are most in need of in-person instruction and support.
Self-contained special education students, newcomer English language learners, and students in preschool through third grade will return to in-person instruction on February 22. Students in grades 4-12 will return to in-person instruction on March 8. Virtual learning will continue for families who selected virtual instruction for their child.
If your child needs bus transportation to or from a childcare location or a babysitter within your school zone when in-person learning begins, please complete the Transportation Childcare Request Form by Sunday, February 14.
Families may submit requests online at www.nnschools.org/bus-stops/childcare_requests.html. Forms are also available at your child's school. Please call the school to schedule an appointment.
All childcare bus transportation requests must be submitted by Sunday, February 14, to be processed for the first day of in-person learning.
Requests received after February 14 may prohibit you from getting a childcare bus stop. Due to the limited capacity on school buses, it is important to submit this form. Please note that a new request must be completed each school year.
Questions may be directed to your school's office staff.
