Revised Procedure on Equal Educational Opportunities-Treatment of Transgender Students

Effective November 10, 2023, Procedure JB-P, Equal Educational Opportunities, which includes the treatment of Transgender students, was revised to provide guidance to the Newport News Public Schools community in implementing the Model Policies on Ensuring Privacy, Dignity, and Respect for All Students and Parents in Virginia's Public Schools, released by the Department of Education in July 2023. To assist in the day-to-day implementation of the revised procedure, a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document was developed and will be updated continuously as additional questions arise that merit attention and require guidance. The revised procedure and FAQ document are attached.
