Newport News Public Schools strives to provide the best educational opportunities and support for our students. To provide a comprehensive virtual learning environment, the school division is partnering with the Virtual Virginia program offered by the Virginia Department of Education for the 2024-2025 school year.

Virtual Virginia is renowned for its educational opportunities. The program offers daily synchronous (live) instruction for grades K–5 in core academics and special subjects and 140+ courses for grades 6–12 including high school dual enrollment opportunities to earn college credit.

Virtual Virginia is supported by a team of highly trained educators specializing in online teaching. Virtual Virginia offers:

• A curriculum designed explicitly for virtual learning, ensuring a high-quality educational experience
• Consistency in practice and expectations for students and families, fostering a more standardized and effective learning environment
• Direct collaboration with NNPS to support student success and integration with their home school activities and requirements
