Posted: November 15, 2024

Ten First Lego League robotics teams from Newport News Public Schools proudly competed in the Regional Qualifier on November 9 at Crittenden Middle School, making NNPS the largest participating school system with 45% of the teams. Congratulations to Newsome Park Elementary School, which was honored with the Core Values Award, and McIntosh Elementary School, which was recognized with the Judges Award.

NNPS teams not only competed, but also exemplified the district's collaborative spirit by supporting and inspiring each other to build a strong robotics community.

"This season highlighted NNPS's commitment to teamwork, innovation and excellence in STEM education," said Kevin Nelhuebel, STEM instructional specialist. "Coaches and students look forward to their next opportunity to showcase their skills at STEM Community Day in May."
