NNPS archers excel at regional tournament with three teams advancing to state

Three Newport News Public Schools archery teams and six individual archers won their divisions at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Regional Tournament on February 1 at An Achievable Dream Middle and High School.

Menchville High School placed first in the high school division with a score of 2098, with Ella Fitzgerald Middle School's score of 2791 notching first place among middle schools and Richneck Elementary School totaling 2432 to take first place among elementary schools.

Gildersleeve Middle School, Booker T. Washington Middle School, B.C. Charles Elementary School and Yates Elementary School also finished in the top three in their respective divisions.

Winning teams will advance to the NASP State Tournament in Doswell on March 8.
