Menchville High School's Air Force Junior ROTC program was awarded the 2024-2025 Distinguished Unit Award with Merit and Menchville ROTC instructor Chief Master Sgt. Christopher Rambali was awarded the Outstanding Instructor Award, Headquarters Air Force JROTC announced on May 27.
"The 2024-2025 AFJROTC Unit Awards letter from Headquarters AFJROTC has officially recognized Menchville's unit as one of the top 25% of AFJROTC units worldwide," Menchville Principal Jason Hollar wrote in announcing the accomplishment.
This achievement is the result of the unit scoring 97% or greater on the annual unit evaluation, averaging over 20 community service hours per cadet, meeting or exceeding all Headquarters deadlines, and successfully achieving all unit-generated SMART goals, according to Hollar.
"These accomplishments reflect the dedication, discipline, and leadership embedded in our AFJROTC program," Hollar wrote. "Chief Rambali's well-deserved recognition highlights his unwavering commitment to excellence, mentorship, and service to our cadets and school community."
This school year Menchville's AFJROTC unit completed 2,500 community service hours, achieved a 95% pass rate on the 2nd Year Industry Certification (Workplace Readiness), had more than 25 cadets successfully participate in work-based service learning, and achieved a 90% pass rate on the 3rd Year National Occupational Competency Testing Institute, Leadership and Employability Test, according to Rambali.
Additionally three cadets, two of whom are already pilots, were awarded $35,000 each in scholarships by the Williamsburg Aviation Scholarship Program.
