Denbigh Aviation Academy students place 7th in national robotics competition

Posted: July 8, 2025

Two students representing the Denbigh High School Aviation Academy competed at the National Technology Student Association Conference June 27-July 1 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Rising twelfth graders Teofilo Henderson-Saunders and Tationa Ward took seventh place in the national competition's robotics category. They had qualified by earning third place at the state competition.

"Tationa and Teo performed extremely, however fell short of a top three placement," said Stephen Millner, Aviation Academy teacher and TSA advisor. "They were one of a handful of teams to fully complete the course and excel at the interview. The only difference between the top eight teams is two minutes with regards to course completion time. This got them to the finalist podium in the closing ceremony."

The finishes places the students in the top 2% in the nation for this event in TSA, according to Millner.

"Needless to say, now that they have seen the competition at a national level, they are eager to take another run at them next year," Millner said.
