An Achievable Dream Academy places fourth at State Odyssey of the Mind

Posted: March 18, 2026

An Achievable Dream Academy earned a fourth place finish in their problem and division at the 2026 Virginia State Odyssey of the Mind Tournament on March 14 at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg.

Odyssey of the Mind emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, budgeting, time management, public speaking, performance and set design, costume design and building.

An Achievable Dream’s team consisted of Nova Antwine, Scarlett Garrison, Brendalynn Ivey, Jakari Phillips, Jakayla Phillips, Jaleah Powell and Taylor Solomon. Sara Betzold is their coach.

Competing in Problem 2, Lost in OMerland, teams designed, built and operated a Technical Trip Assistant only to find their voice activated-device had a few malfunctions that result in hilarity. While they set out to explore a new place, the device gave a humorous answer to a question, wrong directions that took them to an unexpected location, and a silly translation. All props and backdrops were required to fit inside two suitcases.
