Hundreds of attendees experienced hands-on science, technology, engineering and math activities for all ages at 2026 STEM Community Day co-sponsored by Newport News Public Schools and Christopher Newport University on May 30 at the Freeman Center.

The free experience annually brings together K-12 students, educators, university faculty and industry partners for a day of exploration and discovery with hands-on STEM learning and real-world career pathways. This year more than 100 exhibitors and interactive booths presented a variety of information and activities.

Interactive exhibits included robotics demonstrations, hands-on technology, and live STEM experiences shared by NASA, Jefferson Lab, higher education and regional industry partners. Student showcases represented every school in NNPS. STEM career experiences featured local and regional employers including shipbuilding, healthcare, defense and military careers. CNU STEM programs and majors highlighted pathways from K-12 learning to higher education opportunities.
