NNPS Youth Development recognizes schools for positive school culture, belonging

Newport News Public Schools Youth Development Department awarded schools at all levels that have set themselves apart in fostering the program's core values this past school year.
Department representatives presented the 2025-2026 STAND Awards during surprise visits to each school on June 5.
This year's STAND Award recipients are Discovery STEM Academy, Hilton Elementary School, Knollwood Meadows Elementary School in a three-way tie for elementary schools, Booker T. Washington Middle School and Warwick High School.
STAND Awards are given for demonstrated commitment to the district's anti-bullying and harassment STAND program principles of promoting a positive school culture and creating a sense of belonging for all students.
