Why are you passionate about supporting fellow teachers?
In the library, I get to collaborate with many different teachers and see, firsthand, how instrumental fellow teachers are to our students' growth. One effective teacher can make such a huge difference in a student's interests and efficacy. I feel like I am constantly learning by watching other teachers approach a concept or idea in a new way. The more we get to see one another in action, the more we can adjust and try new things to help our students.
What is the best way to describe your classroom on a typical day?
Days in the library are varied to meet the needs and interests of our students and in support of curricular needs. My goal is to create a literacy-rich environment where students feel empowered to explore and apply AASL library learner standards. My favorite library days are days where we have a blend of whole class visits that integrate library learner standards with the class's learning target as well as small group visits.

Why are you passionate about supporting fellow teachers?
I am passionate about supporting fellow teachers because, throughout my career—as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, and now librarian—I've always found deep fulfillment in collaboration and sharing my knowledge and experiences. I love helping colleagues discover their educational identity and celebrating their successes. Supporting one another not only strengthens our teaching community, but also ensures that we are collectively giving our students the tools they need to learn, grow, thrive, and discover their own unique gifts to share with the world.
What do you love most about teaching?
What I love about teaching is that every day is a new adventure—it challenges me to keep growing, learning, and trying new things. There’s nothing like witnessing those lightbulb moments with students or being someone they turn to for support and guidance. Teaching is about building relationships and making a difference every single day. Whether I’m working with children or adults, it’s the most meaningful, fulfilling work I can imagine. It’s my happy place and the heart of who I am.
